The art and mechanics of the original Dragon Quest, for what it's worth, is not lost on me. And I wonder how much of it resonated with the original players. Locked to their humming Famicons on flickering TVs. Today I play it one handed on my phone while waiting for my latte. Has this improved the experience? I don't know. It's forced me to realize I like grinding in JRPGs, something I've always tried to argue around in the past. When's there's no story, one PC, and nothing but time... I won't say it's good, but I kept it installed.
